“I became a potter because I like the process and the product. I like the feel of clay when it is moist and malleable and when it resists what I want to do with it. I look for simple forms that are pleasing to the eye and touch and for glazes that enhance rather than compete with the function. I enjoy making things that have to do with food, its presentation, and the pleasure of eating.\\\" - Joan Platt
Joan’s pottery is elegant, functional and handmade. It is made with stoneware clay, which is hard and durable. It has been glazed with non-toxic glazes and fired in a gas kiln to a high temperature.
The tableware is available in three colors: creamy sand, deep, shiny brown-black, and green. The flames and smoke of the glazing kiln cause lively and interesting variations in the color, and sometimes even the shape, of each piece—no two are exactly alike.
The pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe.
